Kieran McKenna will be hot property if he manages to keep Ipswich Town in the Premier League this season, says former England international Joe Cole.
Having guided the Blues to back-to-back automatic promotions in his first two full seasons as a senior boss, McKenna recently oversaw a 2-1 win at Tottenham. That has the club outside the Premier League drop zone come the third international break of the campaign.
“I’ve been really impressed with Ipswich Town under Kieran McKenna," said Cole, speaking to Paddy Power.
"When you consider they’ve come up from League One and the Championship, with a manager who has never experienced managing at the top level, that could’ve gone very wrong.
"What they’ve done is nothing short of remarkable – their win at Tottenham puts them above the relegation zone. If they finish above relegation this year, Kieran McKenna will probably walk into any job in the country – his stock will be that high.
"I like the way they play, and their young players like Liam Delap and Leif Davis – they're fantastic."
McKenna signed a new four-year deal at Portman Road in the summer after an intense period of speculation linking him to Manchester United, Chelsea and Brighton.
Ipswich's campaign continues with the visit of Manchester United to Portman Road on Sunday (4.30pm).
