Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap started for England Under-21s as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Spain.
The Young Lions travelled out to Cadiz for a rematch of the 2023 Euro U21 final, which they won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Curtis Jones.
This time, the match finished goalless, with Delap playing 68 minutes to earn his ninth cap at the level before being withdrawn for former Town loanee Dane Scarlett, who's now on loan at Championship side Oxford United.
Ipswich team-mate Omari Hutchinson was also called up by Ben Futcher but did not feature in the matchday squad. His absence is currently unexplained, but he wasn't the only surprise exclusion, with Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney also not part of the group in the south of Spain.
England are back on there travels next week as they head to Almere to face the Netherlands on Monday afternoon (5:45pm GMT).
Elsehwere, Arijanet Muric started in goal for Kosovo in their game against Romania in Bucharest.
The visitors dominated the match knowing that only a win would be enough to take their challenge for top spot in Group 2 of Nations League C to the final day, although they couldn't find a way through. The 26-year-old didn't make a single save on his 41st cap, but it remains to be seen whether it'll count.
Off-field issues - reported to be racist chanting - saw the visitors walk off the pitch in the final seconds of stoppage time. The match was subsequently abandoned, meaning that UEFA will have to decide on an outcome for the game. Kosovo are set to return to action on Monday (7:45pm) as they face Lithuania in Pristina.
Fellow goalkeeper Cieran Slicker didn't earn his maiden senior cap for Scotland, but did make the bench for the first time as his side. Steve Clarke's side earned a late 1-0 win thanks to John McGinn's strike, with their opponents down to 10 men following Petar Sucic's first-half red card.
Scotland are also back in action on Monday (7:45pm) as they face Poland - who were beaten 5-1 by Portugal this evening - in Warsaw. They'll need to win that game to avoid automatic relegation from Nations League A.
Ipswich players have been involved in six games so far this international break, with just two goals scored and four goalless draws.
