Ipswich Town attacker Sammie Szmodics is excited to play at Wembley today (5pm) as the Republic of Ireland face England in Nations League B.

In terms of the group, this is a dead rubber for the Boys in Green, who are guaranteed to finish third and face a relegation play-off next March.

However, the rivalry between the two sides adds an interesting twist, with the Three Lions needing to match Greece's result against Finland to secure top spot in Group 2.

More than anything, Szmodics is relishing the chance to play at the 87,000-seater stadium, which he describes as 'the home of English football'.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he said after the Blues' 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur.

"It's the home of English football, so to go there and play for my country will be a challenge - like today was.

"Hopefully we can put in the same performance and get the same result."

Another interesting twist for Szmodics is the divided loyalties in his family. Born in Colchester, he's eligible to represent England and Hungary - the latter through his grandfather - but he opted to play for Ireland through his County Longford-born grandmother.

He's expecting to see some familiar faces in the crowd at Wembley, but joked that they might not be sitting next to each other.

"Some in the away end, some in the home end," he chuckled. "They can fight over where they're going to sit."

Town team-mate Dara O'Shea, who's battling a back injury, could also feature for Ireland in London this evening.
