Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says he's not thinking about cutting short Cameron Humphreys' loan spell at high-flying League One club Wycombe Wanderers in January.
The homegrown midfielder, 21, has scored three goals and twice been voted Man of the Match during his spell with the Chairboys so far.
Wycombe are the surprise leaders of the League One table at present, ahead of big-spending duo Birmingham and Wrexham, and that's led to manager Matt Bloomfield being linked to the vacancy at Championship outfit Coventry City.
Asked if he had any thoughts about recalling Humphreys in January in order to send him out to a second-tier club instead, McKenna replied: “It's not something that we're discussing at the moment, to be honest. There's a lot of football to be played in the season. There's a lot of football to be played between now and January.
“I think the priority is that he's out and he’s playing week in, week out in a good side. That's the first step, a big positive and that's where everyone's focus is for now.”
Humphreys has made 24 starts and 15 sub appearances for Ipswich across all competitions so far, playing a bit-part but important role in back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.
“I was talking to Conor Chaplin about how well Cameron's doing at Wycombe and I think the surprise levels in the dressing room are really, really low," said McKenna.
"I think everyone internally here was clear about how ready Cameron was and how he was performing and training.
“He just needed that opportunity to go and play a week in, week out. And he's grabbing it with both hands at the moment.
“He's helping the team do well and, of course, the team doing well helps a young player out on loan, so it's very positive. I'm sure there'll be some ups and downs, but he's having a really good experience.”
Humphreys is contracted at Ipswich until 2026, with the club having the option to extend that by a further year.
Town's current central midfield options are Sam Morsy, Kalvin Phillips, Jens Cajuste, Jack Taylor and Massimo Luongo, with Phillips and Cajuste both on season-long loans.
