Ipswich Town striker George Hirst has revealed the deep head wound he suffered as a result of a Radu Dragusin challenge at the very end of yesterday's 2-1 win at Tottenham.

A split second before the referee blew the final whistle, Dragusin and Hirst contested an aerial duel. Hirst subsequently received prolonged medical treatment as the Blues celebrated their first Premier League victory of the season and left the field with his head heavily bandaged.

The 25-year-old has today shared an image of the sizeable cut above his left eye on Instagram.

Having come on as a 70th minute sub, Hirst looked to feel a twinge in his knee in the 80th minute but was able to play on. That was a worrying sight given he underwent knee surgery in August.

Asked about Hirst after the game, Blues boss Kieran McKenna said: "He seems okay. He’s got a big bandage on his head, he’s in good spirits, he had a knock on his knee as well, which I’m sure they’ll check out, but he seems to be moving pretty well."

Ipswich return to action, after this weekend's international break, with a home game against Manchester United (Sunday, November 24).
