Ross Halls takes a look at a classic encounter against Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the Blues' trip to North London this weekend...
We throwback to the Premier League clash between the two sides when George Burley's men ended their winless run in the top flight in December 2001.
This was the Blues' last visit to White Hart Lane, before the North Londoners moved to their new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2019.
They squared off against Glenn Hoddle's side, who took the lead in the tenth minute when Sergei Rebrov sent in a low cross for Simon Davies, who hit the net from eight yards out despite looking suspiciously offside.
However, Town were deservedly back on terms in the 38th minute when Martijn Reuser delivered a corner which John McGreal got his head on and the ball fell to Finidi George.
He stopped the ball with his back to goal and the Nigerian hit a textbook overhead kick to equalise for the Blues.
The next big incident in the game came nine minutes after the restart, when Spurs' captain Teddy Sheringham was shown a straight red card by referee Mike Riley, who had seen an off-the-ball incident from a corner when he raised his arms at McGreal.
The game remained even for the majority of the second half, before George surged down the wing and unleashed a near post cross which Alun Armstrong headed perfectly beyond keeper Neil Sullivan and into the net.
It was a much needed victory for the Blues, who ended their run of 15 games without a league win and secured their first three points on the road that campaign.
Town did the double over Spurs during the 2001/02 season, beating them 2-1 at Portman Road in the reverse fixture - the last encounter between the two sides until this weekend.
Town XI: Sereni, Makin, McGreal (Bramble), Hreidarsson, Venus, Magilton (Armstrong), Holland, Wright, Reuser, George, M Bent (Naylor).
