Manchester United have appointed Ruben Amorim as their new manager, with his first game set to come away at Ipswich Town on November 24th.

The Red Devils sacked Erik ten Hag earlier this week following their 2-1 defeat away at West Ham. The result leaves them 14th in the Premier League table with three wins, two draws and four defeats from their first nine games.

Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of the 5-2 win against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, but it became clear that Amorim had been lined up to take over. Sporting CP had revealed that an agreement had been reached for the 39-year-old to take over, which has been announced this afternoon.

Amorim will stay in Portugal until the start of the international break on November 11th, when he'll begin his new job. It means that his first game will come away at Portman Road against Ipswich, which will be shown live on Sky Sports' Super Sunday later this month.

Town boss Kieran McKenna was previously assistant manager at Man United and has been linked with the job twice since moving to Portman Road. He was an outsider for it this time, especially when it became clear that the ownership wanted Amorim. For McKenna, it'll be his first game against his former employers.
