Former Ipswich Town forward Balint Bajner has joined Greek amateur side Episkopi, who play in the Rethymno FCA First Division.

The 33-year-old returned to football back in February when he joined his hometown club of Haladás, who play in the second-tier of Hungary.

Bajner recently revealed a three-year Covid battle kept him out of action after playing for Pécsi MFC in 2021.

He now will play in the lowest league in Greece, his new club having suffered relegation from the third tier last season.

The Hungarian joined Ipswich under Mick McCarthy's management in the summer of 2014 having previously played for Borussia Dortmund's second team.

Bajner became a bit of a cult hero after wildly celebrating a pre-season friendly goal at Southend (that led to social media posts of ‘No Bajner, No Party’), but he was subsequently hooked in the 44th minute of his competitive debut (a 2-1 home win against Fulham) and made just six further sub appearances for the club.

He left Town to join Notts County in 2015, before returning to his homeland with Paks. Brief spells at Italian club Modena and back at Dortmund's reserves followed.
