Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says he has a 'clear belief' in what Omari Hutchinson's best role is in the side.

Most of the skilful attacker's minutes in the Championship came on the right wing, but the 20-year-old has been deployed more centrally since joining permanently for a club-record £18m fee from Chelsea.

On Tuesday night, he had a hand in four goals for England Under-21s during a sparkling half hour cameo on the right wing against Azerbaijan.

Elsewhere, Dara O'Shea played at right-back for the Republic of Ireland, while Wes Burns played on the left wing for Wales.

Asked if any of the above had given him food for thought ahead of tomorrow's Premier League clash with Everton at Portman Road, McKenna replied: “Not in Omari’s case, to be honest. He’s been here for 16 months. He made around 40 appearances for us last year, maybe 20 of them were as a right-winger, maybe close to 20 were as a right-10, with a handful as a left-10. So we’ve seen Omari plenty in both positions and we’ve got a pretty clear belief in how we can make him most effective in different games and different scenarios.

“We’ve seen Dara play right-back before. We knew it was a position he could play, it wasn’t a big part of bringing him to the club, but we knew that defenders being versatile could prove useful over the course of a season.

"That gives us another option. He’s also played left centre-half for Ireland in a three, lots of right-back, lots of middle centre-back in a four, lots of right centre-back in a five, so he’s got good experience in several positions. I don’t think we learned anything new to be honest."
