Ahead of tomorrow's clash between Ipswich Town and Everton, Ross Halls takes a look at ten players to have featured for both sides.

NATHAN BROADHEAD

The current Town attacker joined the Blues from Everton for a reported fee of £1.5 million in January 2023 and helped Kieran McKenna's side win back-to-back promotions. 

Broadhead started his career at Goodison Park, coming through their youth academy but made just senior two appearances for them.

The defender had two spells at Everton, making over 300 appearances after coming through their academy. 

Unsworth spent time on loan at Ipswich from Portsmouth in 2005, where he made 16 appearances, scoring once on his Blues debut at Sheffield United. 

MARCUS BENT

The forward scored 23 goals in 70 games for Town, having signed from Blackburn Rovers for £3 million in November 2001. 

Bent left the Blues to join the Toffees in the summer of 2004, where he netted six goals in 66 appearances.

The goalkeeper came through the ranks at Town, where he made 355 appearances during his three separate spells at Portman Road. 

Wright signed for Everton from Arsenal for an initial £3.5 million in the summer of 2002, making over 50 appearances during his spell at Goodison Park. 

BRYAN HAMILTON

The Northern Irishman made over 200 appearances for Town, scoring 56 goals after joining from Linfield in 1971. 

Hamilton was sold to Everton for £40,000 in 1975, where he played 41 league games for the Toffees, scoring 3 goals.

The Dane spent two and a half seasons at Portman Road, where he played nearly 100 games for the Blues. 

Thomsen was sold to Everton for £900,000 in 1997, but made just 25 appearances before returning to his homeland a year later. 

IAN ATKINS

The defender had a brief spell at Everton, where he was part of the side that won the First Division title and European Cup Winners' Cup in 1984-85. 

Atkins signed for Town for a £100,000 fee in 1985, where he made close to 100 appearances for the Blues. He also captained the side for two seasons.

The forward started his career at Everton, where he notched one league goal in 15 games before leaving to sign for Oldham Athletic in 1988. 

Marshall moved to Ipswich in 1993 for £750,000, where he went on to score 38 goals in 97 games during his spell at Portman Road. 

DAVE JOHNSON

The frontman began his career at Goodison Park, before signing for Town in 1972, where he notched 46 goals in 178 games. He helped the Blues win the 1973 Texaco Cup.

Johnson then moved on to Liverpool for what was then the Anfield club’s record fee of £200,000 in 1976, before he returned to Everton for a second spell in 1982.

LUKE GARBUTT

The full-back came through the youth ranks at Everton, where he made 12 senior appearances but spent most of his time out on loan. 

Garbutt proved a real hit on loan at Ipswich from the Toffees, contributing six goals and three assists in the 2019/20 season. 

MATTHEW PENNINGTON

The defender is another player on this list that came through the youth ranks at Everton, making nine appearances, while spending time out on loan.

One of those spells was at Portman Road in the 2018/19 season, where he went on to play 31 games for Town, scoring once.
