Substitute Jesse Nwabueze netted a brace in a matter of minutes to rescue a point late on for Ipswich Town U21s at league leaders Charlton Athletic this afternoon.

The home side had the better of the first half, with Town stopper Alan Fleischer making several good saves to keep the scores level.

But the Addicks took the lead two minutes before the break when Toby Bower’s free-kick from just outside the box cannoned back off the post and Ollie Hobden tapped in the rebound.

Ten minutes into the second half Charlton doubled their advantage, Henry Rylah unleashing a powerful volley into the Town net from a corner.

Sub Nwabueze did get a goal back with ten minutes to go though, and just three minutes later he levelled the scores, cutting in from the left to rifle home with his right foot.

Town U21s return to action against Brentford at Portman Road a week on Thursday (October 24th) with a 7pm kick-off.
