Ipswich Town defender Dara O'Shea has looked at the similarities and differences between Kieran McKenna and Vincent Kompany.

Kompany, now manager of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, signed O'Shea at Burnley after guiding them to the Premier League in his first season in charge. The Belgian is a former centre-back himself, lifting numerous trophies as captain of Manchester City.

McKenna is often put in the same category as him. Both are 38, separated in age by just over a month, and like to play an attacking brand of football where possible.

O'Shea has enjoyed playing under both managers so far in his career, but has noticed some differences in 'how they control the players'.

“They’re both great coaches," he explained, "Tactically, they’re amazing and some of the best I’ve worked with.

“There are differences to them, how they manage, how they control the players.

“The manager here has been fantastic with me since I’ve stepped through the door. He’s made it really easy for me to feel comfortable within the group, within myself and around people. That’s helped me a lot.

“They’re both young managers who have a lot to do still in their careers. They’ve both managed at the highest level as well, which is amazing.

“Obviously it’s still early doors here for myself but I’m really enjoying my time working with the manager here. I can’t wait to keep going.”
