Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says he is keeping a close eye on the form of loaned out midfielder Cameron Humphreys.

The 20-year-old academy graduate has scored two goals in nine appearances for League One club Wycombe Wanderers so far, quickly becoming a Chairboys fans' favourite.

“He's doing very well, I'm really happy for him," said McKenna.

“He was more than ready to go out and play week-in, week-out in senior football.

"He had a spell of doing that here, he developed so well as a player over the last couple of seasons, has been a big part of the group, and now he's getting the chance to play regularly.

“We're all happy for him and, of course, keeping a close eye on his games. I'm sure he'll be looking to keep going.”

Ipswich-born Humphreys started 10 league games in Town's League One promotion campaign, but was limited to just three appearances in the Championship.

A regular in cup competitions since he first broke through into the first team squad, he has made a total of 24 starts and 15 sub appearances for the Blues.

Speaking when Humphreys was sent out for his first loan spell this summer, McKenna enthused: “He's been a fantastic part of the success that we've had.

"It's pretty unique when you have a 20-year-old who is also one of your standard bearers day to day, one of the best players in training day-in and day-out, is one of the most professional players in the group and the most committed players in the group.

“So he's a really important player for us and we think he's got a really good career ahead of him."

Wycombe are currently fifth in the League One table after winning five of their opening nine games. Matt Bloomfield's side aren't in action this weekend, their scheduled match at Stockport postponed due to the latter having three international call-ups.
