Former Ipswich Town goalkeeper Tomas Holy has returned to his native Czech Republic to sign for third-tier club FK Baník Most-Souš.

The 32-year-old was released by Carlisle United at the end of last season after two campaigns at Brunton Park.

Holy made over 50 appearances for the Cumbrians as he helped them win promotion to League One in 2022/23, but then lost his place last season as they were relegated back to the fourth tier.

He now joins Pavel Horvath side, who play in the Czech 3.Liga, a move which marks his return to playing in his homeland after seven years in the English game.

The 6ft 9in keeper joined Gillingham in 2017, before signing for Ipswich under Paul Lambert in the summer of 2019. He made 65 appearances for the Blues during his three-year spell at Portman Road.

Holy was released by the Blues at the end of 2021/22 season, having spent some time on loan at Port Vale and Cambridge United during that campaign.
