Town Women continued their unbeaten start to the season with a goalless draw against Watford in Felixstowe this afternoon.

The first 10 minutes were an even affair, with both teams playing some good football. The best chance of the game fell to Angela Addison, who sent a free kick just over the bar from the edge of the area.

In the 15th minute, Watford had a great chance following a corner which resulted in a goal-mouth scramble, but Natalia Negri was able to claim the ball.

Just a few minutes later, it was the turn of Town to have a great opportunity, as Sophie Peskett won the ball high up the pitch before playing it back to Shauna Guyatt, whose effort was brilliantly saved by the Hornets keeper.

In the 31st minute, Watford probably should have been awarded a penalty after Megan Wearing put her foot in between the ball and the attacker, catching the Hornet striker, but the referee waved away strong appeals.

The first half came to a close after a very even 45 minutes, with both teams having chances and seeing lots of the ball, but neither were able to put the ball in the net.

After the restart, it was the same story, with both teams playing good football, but neither creating many clear-cut chances.

As the clock ticked by in the half, both teams were cancelling each other out and Town keeper Negri had to make a couple of vital stops to prevent Watford from taking the lead in the second half.

Town's best chance of the half came when Shauna Guyatt let fly from 25 yards, but her effort was well-saved by the Watford keeper, who received a yellow card for time wasting from the resulting goal kick.

Town suffered a 95th minute scare when a Watford free kick struck the cross bar, but Guyatt was able to clear.

The draw means it's now eight unbeaten for the Tractor Girls, registering six wins and two draws in all competitions.
