Ross Halls takes a look at a classic encounter against West Ham ahead of the Blues trip to the Hammers this weekend...

We throwback to the Championship clash between the two sides when Paul Jewell's men secured a late victory over the Irons at Upton Park in September 2011.

They squared off with Sam Allardyce's team, who had just been relegated back to the second tier, but were favourites to bounce straight back up to the top flight.

Town came close in the first half when Lee Bowyer hit the post and then Aaron Cresswell, who is a current Hammers player, had a 30-yard free-kick tipped onto the crossbar by keeper Rob Green with eight minutes left.

The goal from Bowyer, who had two spells at Upton Park, was in front of the Town support in the away end, producing memorable scenes.

Town did the double over the Hammers during the 2011/12 season, beating them 5-1 at Portman Road in the reverse fixture.

West Ham would go on to return to Premier League after winning in the play-offs and they have remained in the top flight ever since.
