Ipswich Town U21s were held to a 2-2 draw at Cardiff City in the Professional Development League this afternoon.

John McGreal's went into this game off the back of their 3-3 draw with Everton in the Premier League Cup last week.

The home side had a goal ruled out in the 13th minute after Luey Giles had the ball in the net but the linesman’s flag had been raised.

Town opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Tommy Taylor was fouled in the box. The young forward stepped up for the spot kick and found the net for his seventh goal of the season.

However, the Bluebirds scored a quick fire double just before half-time when Michael Reindorf equalised with a header and then Mannie Barton slotted past Willamson to take the lead.

Town were able to find a leveller eight minutes after the restart when Ash Boatswain struck the ball into the roof of the net for his third goal in the last two games.

The two sides shared the points but the Welsh side were close to scoring a late winner when Reindorf stole possession inside Town’s half before lifting the ball over Williamson from distance - but saw the effort bounce off the cross bar.

Town return to action when they host Watford at Portman Road next Tuesday.
