Ipswich Town defender Axel Tuanzebe has been named in Troy Deeney's BBC Sport Premier League Team of the Week.

The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes against Brighton & Hove Albion, helping the Blues take a point at the Amex Stadium with a 0-0 draw.

Tuanzebe was tasked with facing Japanese international Kaoru Mitoma, who he limited to very little in the way of concrete chances. The former Manchester United centre-back showcased his blistering pace and strong one-on-one defending, which caught Deeney's eye in Sussex.

"He absolutely dealt with Kaoru Mitoma," the ex-Watford man said, having watched the game live at the stadium.

"He is obviously really good - excellent defending and he did well going forward. He contributed to another clean sheet for Ipswich on the road."

Deeney put Brighton duo Jan Paul van Hecke and Carlos Baleba in his side, although Town goalkeeper Arijanet Muric was left out despite his man-of-the-match performance against the Seagulls. Chelsea's Robert Sanchez was selected instead.

Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler also singled out Tuanzebe for praise, describing him as a 'very strong defender' and 'one of the fastest defenders in the league.
