Ipswich Town winger Wes Burns has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The eight-cap Wales international joined from Fleetwood Town for a nominal fee in 2021 and has been a key figure in back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old has scored 28 goals in 110 starts and 17 sub appearances across all competitions so far, netting in the promotion-clinching home win against Huddersfield back in May and then making his top-flight debut against Liverpool last month.

“This has been an amazing club for me,” Burns told the club website.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here both as a person and as a player. When I signed three years ago I probably didn’t expect us to be where we are today, but it’s been an incredible journey.

“This is one of the best groups I could ever wish to work with. There is a real togetherness here and I am delighted to have signed a new deal.”

Burns is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in the season opener against Liverpool, but could return to action following this weekend's trip to Brighton. His previous deal had been due to expire at the end of this campaign.
