The East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star understands that Derby County are working on a deal to sign Marcus Harness on loan from Ipswich Town.

The winger, who made his professional breakthrough at Burton Albion, joined the Blues from Portsmouth back in 2022. In total, he’s played 88 games for the Blues, scoring 12 goals.

Harness played a big role in helping Town secure promotion from League One to the Championship while taking on a ‘super-sub’ role last season as they secured a place in the Premier League.

As per John Percy at The Telegraphhe's now closing in on a move back to the Midlands, joining up with Paul Warne’s side following their promotion to the Championship last season.

The Rams, who brought in ex-Town forward Kayden Jackson at the start of the transfer window, have won one of their opening three league games, beating Middlesbrough while falling to defeat against Blackburn Rovers and Watford.

Following Freddie Ladapo's departure, Ipswich's squad is currently made up of 27 players. As it stands, they'll need to cut two more before the deadline, although it'll become three is Reiss Nelson joins on loan from Arsenal. Defender George Edmundson could still seal a loan departure to Middlesbrough.
