Ipswich Town are set to complete the signing of Tudor Mendel from Belgian club Anderlecht.
The midfielder came through Chelsea's academy, starting in the Under-8s after interest from numerous clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham. He was offered a new deal by the club in July 2023, but opted to leave amid links to FC Barcelona.
He subsequently joined Anderlecht, where he linked up with their reserve team, RSCA Futures, making 16 appearances and scoring once.
As first revealed by Fabrizio Romano, he's now set to move to Suffolk.
The East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star understands that the 19-year-old has been signed for John McGreal's Under-21s side. The deal won't be announced tonight, with a formal confirmation likely to come after the weekend.
Elsewhere, we understand that, as per The Northern Echo, Middlesbrough's loan move for George Edmundson is now back on.
