Striker Freddie Ladapo has departed Ipswich Town by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old joined the Blues after leaving Rotherham in May 2022, Kieran McKenna's first signing of that summer.

And he fired 21 goals in all competitions to help the Blues finally escape League One at the fourth time of asking, despite losing his starting place to January loan signing George Hirst. Indeed, his eight goals off the bench were the most in League One.

Ladapo also bagged Town's 100th league goal of that season, opening the scoring in the 2-2 draw at Fleetwood on the last day of the campaign.

He found playing time much harder to come by in the Championship last season, although he did score a memorable brace off the bench in the 3-2 comeback win over Cardiff City in September, Town having fallen 2-0 behind.

He ended the season on loan at League One Charlton, where he scored once in 14 games.

Having played 18 league games, Ladapo did receive a Championship runner's up medal on the day Town secured promotion to the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in May, receiving a warm ovation from the celebrating home fans.

He leaves having scored 25 goals in 75 games for the Blues.

A statement on Town's website said: "The club would like to thank Freddie for his contributions during his time in Suffolk and wishes him well for the future."

Ladapo's departure leaves Town's first team squad at 27 players, with only 25 able to be registered for the Premier League.
