Ipswich Town were knocked out of the Carabao Cup after a 2-2 draw against League Two side AFC Wimbledon, losing 4-2 on penalties Alex Jones provides his player ratings.
Christian Walton
Didn't look like there was a great deal he could've done about the goals in normal time. Wimbledon's penalties were good, but he could've done better for Huseyin Biler's effort as he got a touch. 6
Ben Johnson
Linked up well with Chiedozie Ogbene down the right. Attacked well and didn't have a great deal to do defensively from open play. 6
Dara O'Shea
Recovered well during some tricky moments but did have some tough battles against Wimbledon's attackers, particularly when they went direct. Hit and miss. 5
Cameron Burgess
Not his best day at the office. Could've done more aerially in set piece situations. Looked a little bit rusty. 5
Conor Townsend
Showed off his energy and stamina by rushing up and down the left flank. Played a very attacking competitive debut where he assisted the opener, but also fouled Biler for the free-kick that allowed Wimbledon to equalise. 6
Kalvin Phillips
A little disjointed in midfield. Robbed of the ball on a few occasions and his passing was a bit off as well. Had a penalty shout in the first half, but that was his only real action in the game. 5
Jens Cajuste
Didn't have too many moments, but a few nice bits on the ball as we got to see the type of role he'll play at Town. Did give away the free-kick for Wimbledon's second. Early doors, some bits to work on, but some promising signs too. 6
Chiedozie Ogbene
Played a small part in the goal by guessing Conor Chaplin's movement and making a run to fire a cross into the box. His movement was good but his deliveries were hit and miss. For someone who only signed for the club hours earlier, it was a good debut. 6
Conor Chaplin
Drifted right a little too often in the first half but ended up in some nice pockets of space. Clever play but needed to pull the trigger earlier at times. Was brave for the late equaliser. 6
Jack Clarke
A strong debut. Clever movement, loved being on the ball and relished when he had chances to take his man on. Ultimately just missed that final pass or killer shot to really help Town in the attacking third. Wimbledon's right-back was immense throughout the game. 7 (Man of the Match)
Ali Al-Hamadi
Got the goal against his former team, an impressive header from a corner. Other than that, he didn't have much to work off, although he ran and battled hard while he was on the pitch. 6
Sub: Marcus Harness (46')
A few nice moments on the ball but couldn't change the game. One blocked shot, didn't feel like he had anywhere near enough moments on the ball. 5
Sub: Jack Taylor (66')
Some good bits on the ball during normal time, but a really poor penalty in the shoot-out. 5
Sub: Massimo Luongo (66')
Midfield looked more fluid after his introduction. 6
Sub: Liam Delap (78')
Made up for his slip during a late counter with a thumping penalty in the shoot-out. 6
Sub: Omari Hutchinson (78')
Arguably should've won a penalty at the death, but like Taylor, saw his poor spot-kick saved in the shoot-out. 5
