Ipswich Town Women continued their impressive start to the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Hashtag United in the first home game of the season thanks to goals from Lucy O'Brien and Sophie Peskett.

After an even opening seven minutes, Town hit the crossbar through Leah Mitchell, who was there to meet the end of a free kick.

11 minutes in Town took the lead through O'Brien. A quick free-kick by Shauna Guyatt caught the Hashtag defence napping, and O'Brien was there to finish low into the far corner.

The game became very even after the goal, with Town continuing to pile pressure on the Hashtag defence.

A corner from Guyatt was met by the head of Natasha Thomas but her header went over the bar.

The comfortable first half for Town came to a close with O'Brien's goal still the difference.

Hashtag came out for the second half with a different game plan to try and put some pressure on the Town defence, but the backline were able to hold their nerve.

Town went 2-0 up in the 55th minute as Hashtag lost the ball on the edge of the Town area - which they felt was a foul but the referee waved play on - and the Tractor Girls were able to break away before Peskett was played through on goal. She took a couple of touches and finished into the far corner past the keeper.

Town continued to pile the pressure on the Hashtag defence, with some great runs from Guyatt and Peskett.

There was a slight scare for Town at the back as the ball was crossed in from the left before pinballing around the six-yard box, but stopper Natalia Negri was able to hold on to the ball.

That's two wins from two for Town against tough opposition so far. Their next trip is the small matter of an East Anglian derby against Norwich City at Carrow Road in the League Cup on Thursday night.
