Ipswich Town are closing in on the signing of Burnley centre-back Dara O'Shea.

The EADT and Ipswich Star understands the Blues have agreed a fee of £12m that could rise to £15m with add-ons.

A 26-cap Republic of Ireland international, O'Shea will sign a five-year deal at Portman Road.

The 25-year-old made close to 100 appearances for West Brom before making a £7m move to newly-promoted Premier League side Burnley last season.

He will follow winger Jack Clarke through the door, the 23-year-old winger having completed a £15m switch from Championship club Sunderland this evening.

O'Shea's arrival will mean Kieran McKenna has signed a player for every single position since promotion to the top-flight was secured.

This deal will take Town's spending - not including loan fees, add-ons and future buy clauses - to £92.5m.

Meanwhile, it's understood that Town are now unlikely to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja on loan due to issues with his medical.

The transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday.
