Former Ipswich Town loanee Liam Rosenior has been appointed as the head coach of French top flight side RS Strasbourg on a three-year deal.

The 40-year-old led Hull to a seventh-place finish in the Championship last season, before he was surprisingly sacked by the Tigers in May.

Rosenior replaces Patrick Vieira, who left Strasbourg last week by mutual consent, having led them to a 13th place finish in Ligue 1 in 2023/24.

He will be joined by Justin Walker, Kalifa Cisse and Issame Charai on his coaching staff at Stade de la Meinau.

The Alsace club are owned by BlueCo, the company run by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, which also owns Chelsea.

On being appointed, Rosenior said: "I am happy to join Racing, a historic French club, with supporters renowned for their passion and loyalty."

He told Strasbourg's website: "I will do everything to make the [Stade de la] Meinau proud of its team and its players. I can't wait to get to work."

Club president Marc Keller said: "We are pleased to welcome Liam, a young coach recognised for his ability to make his teams play well and to help his players progress."

The former full-back started his managerial career at Derby County, having been appointed as interim head coach after the resignation of Wayne Rooney in June 2022 and joined Hull later that year on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

In total, Rosenior made 33 appearances for Town, scoring one goal during his loan spell from Reading in the 2009/10 season.
