Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Arijanet Muric from Championship side Burnley.

The Athletic have reported that the Blues will pay an initial £8 million, with add-ons set to take it above the £10 million mark.

Having signed a four year deal at Portman Road ahead of joining up with his new team-mates at their training camp in Austria, Muric said: “I’m excited to have joined the club and am looking forward to getting started.

“I watched how the team played last season and feel the style will suit me very well, so this is the perfect move for me.

“I have had good conversations with the manager and Rene (Gilmartin, Head of Goalkeeping) and believe this is the right place for me to be as the club moves into the Premier League.

“I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Muric has become Ipswich's fifth signing of the summer since sealing promotion to the Premier League, following Omari Hutchinson (Chelsea, £18m), Ben Johnson (West Ham, free), Jacob Greaves (Hull City, £15m) and Liam Delap (Manchester City, £15m). It takes their total spending for the summer to around £56m without add-ons.

The 25-year-old started his career in Switzerland, where he was born, before joining Manchester City's academy at the age of 16. He spent time out on loan in the Netherlands, Spain and Turkey, including a short stint at Nottingham Forest back in 2019/20.

He left the Citizens to join Burnley on a permanent deal after they were relegated from the Premier League in 2022, linking up with former team-mate Vincent Kompany, who took over as manager.

Muric played 10 league games for the Clarets last season, having also earned 38 caps for Kosovo at international level.

The 6'6" shot-stopper boasts a strong record of saving penalties and is incredibly comfortable in possession, with Man City boss Pep Guardiola saying that he was 'so good with his feet he could play at centre-back'. EADT and Ipswich Star subscribers can access a deep dive into his career here.
