Ipswich Town are working on a deal to sign Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric.

As per The Athletic, the Blues have agreed an £8m fee - with the potential to rise to £10m following add-ons - for the 25-year-old Kosovan international.

Muric played a key role in Burnley's title-winning Championship campaign of 2022/23, but found himself behind new signing James Trafford in the pecking order for much of last season. He did, however, return to the starting XI for the last 10 games as Vincent Kompany's men failed to beat the drop.

Ipswich are on the hunt for someone to replace last season's No.1, Vaclav Hladky, after the latter was unable to reach an agreement with the club over a new contract.

Born in Switzerland, Muric joined Manchester City's youth team at the age of 16.

He made five League Cup outings for the Pep Guardiola's title winning side in 2018/19 before having loan spells at NAC Breda (Holland), Nottingham Forest, Girona (Spain), Willem II (Holland) and Adana Demirspor (Turkey) over the next four seasons.

He joined Burnley for £3m in 2022 and still has two years left on his contract at Turf Moor.

Ipswich have announced two signings in the last 24 hours - centre-back Jacob Greaves (£15m, Hull) and striker Liam Delap (£15m, Man City).

They followed attacker Omari Hutchinson (Chelsea, £18m) and right-back Ben Johnson (West Ham, free) through the door as the Blues prepare to play top-flight football for the first time in 22 years following back-to-back promotions.

Meanwhile, the EADT and Ipswich Star understands that reports Town have been in talks with Blackburn Rovers regarding forward Sammie Szmodics are misleading.

Contact was initiated from the player's camp, with it understood that the 28-year-old doesn't fit the club's recruitment profile.
