Ipswich Town transfer target Jaden Philogene is set to return to his former club Aston Villa from Hull City.
The Blues agreed a double deal in the region of £35m for Tigers duo Philogene and Jacob Greaves earlier this week.
Villa, who sold Philogene to Hull for £5m last summer, activated their 'matching rights' clause to enter the race for the 22-year-old winger though. There were mixed reports, meanwhile, as to whether Everton had made a bid.
The former England U21 international flew out to Turkey late on Wednesday night to join his Hull team-mates at a training camp as the saga rumbled on.
Now Hull Live reports that Philogene is returning to the UK to complete a medical at Villa.
Villa, who are preparing for Champions League football after a fourth place finish under Unai Emery, will pay around £12m to get Philogene back by the time their 30 per cent sell-on clause is taken out of the £18m fee.
Ipswich have instead renegotiated an individual deal for 23-year-old centre-back Greaves, believed to be around £15m plus add-ons.
The Blues are also closing in on the £15m signing of striker Liam Delap from Manchester City ahead of the squad flying out to Austria on Sunday for the start of a training camp.
