Ipswich Town are closing in on the £15m signing of centre-back Jacob Greaves from Hull City.

The Blues have been in discussions with the Championship club for more than a week about a £35m+ double deal for Greaves and winger Jaden Philogene.

Negotiations over the latter have proved difficult though, with his former club Aston Villa activating their matching rights clause, Everton reportedly having made a bid and Crystal Palace said to be monitoring the situation.

In the latest twist in the saga, the 22-year-old flew out to Turkey late on Wednesday night to join his Tigers team-mates at a training camp.

With Kieran McKenna's men set to fly out to Austria on Sunday for their own pre-season training camp, Ipswich have decided to renegotiate an individual deal for Greaves, who passed a medical earlier in the week.

As per The Athletic, the deal will be in the region of £15m with the potential to rise to £18m with add-ons.

Greaves, 23, is a left-footed centre-back who has made more than 175 appearances for Hull since graduating from their academy.

The 6ft 4in defender, who can also play at left-back, was named in the Championship Team of the Year for 2023/24.

It's expected that he will sign a five-year deal at Portman Road and bolster a central defensive unit that includes Luke Woolfenden, Cameron Burgess, Axel Tuanzebe and George Edmundson.

Meanwhile, the Blues remain on the verge of announcing the £15m signing of striker Liam Delap from Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has passed his medical in Suffolk with an announcement due after the last few bits of paperwork are completed.
