Former Ipswich Town loanee has joined Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday.

The 25-year-old midfielder was released by the Owls this summer to end his two-year spell at Hillsborough with 42 appearances and two goals.

Bakinson spent the second half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, where he played 15 games for the Addicks.

He now joins the Chairboys, who finished 10th in League One last season and are managed by former Town player Matt Bloomfield.

Speaking on the signing of Bakinson, he said: “We’ve been big admirers of Tyreeq for a long time and we’re delighted that he’s chosen to come here, having had interest from elsewhere as well.

“He’s a player with a lot of ability on the ball but his size and presence in the middle of the park will really complement the talents we’ve already got in that area.

“Tyreeq will suit the way we want to play and he fits the profile of the type of player we want to have in the squad, so we’re excited to see what he can do for us and I think the fans will love seeing him out there on the pitch.”

In total, Bakinson played 17 games for Ipswich, scoring two goals during his loan spell from Bristol City in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.
