Several former Ipswich Town players have been released from their respective clubs this summer. Ross Halls takes a look at them...

BARTOSZ BIALKOWSKI

Town career: 2014-2020

Appearances: 178

The 36-year-old goalkeeper has left Millwall after five seasons, having initially joined the Lions on loan from Ipswich in the summer of 2019, before signing permanently in January 2020.

Bialkowski made over 150 appearances during his spell at the Den and was voted Millwall's Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020. His next destination is unclear. 

MACAULEY BONNE

Town career: 2021-2022 (on loan from QPR)

Appearances: 46 - Goals: 12

The 28-year-old forward departs Gillingham after one season having spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Cambridge United. 

Bonne scored one goal in 16 games for U's and will be looking to settle at the right club after some short spells. 

TYREEQ BAKINSON

Town career: 2022 (on loan from Bristol City)

Appearances: 17 - Goals: 2

The 25-year-old midfielder's two-year spell at Sheffield Wednesday has ended after he spent the second half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic in League One.

Bakinson looks set to remain in the third tier as it's been reported that Leyton Orient and Wycombe Wanderers are battling it out for his signature. 

KEANAN BENNETTS

Town career: 2020-2021 (on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach)

Appearances: 30 - Goals: 1

The 25-year-old winger spent last season at Wehen Wiesbaden, but he was unable to prevent them dropping to the third tier, having joined the German side from Darmstadt 98 last summer. 

Bennetts has been in Germany since 2018 and may look to remain in the country to sign for another club. 

KEVIN BRU

Town career: 2014-2018

Appearances: 103 - Goals: 4

The 35-year-old midfielder has been a free agent since January after he left Icelandic side IBV, who are managed by former Town favourite Hermann Hreidarsson.

Bru left the Blues in 2018 and has since played in Cyprus, Romania and France. He scored for Mauritius in a 2026 World Cup qualifier this month.

CALLUM CONNOLLY

Town career: 2017-2018 (On loan from Everton)

Appearances: 35 - Goals: 4

The 26-year-old defender is searching for a new club after three seasons with Blackpool, where he made over 100 appearances.

Connolly hasn't played since February but won't be short of suitors this summer. 

MUSTAPHA CARAYOL

Town career: 2018

Appearances: 8 - Goals: 1

The 35-year-old winger has left Burton Albion after two seasons, having joined on a free transfer from Gillingham in September 2022. 

Carayol went on feature 62 times for the Brewers, scoring three goals as he helped them stay in League One in both campaigns. 

BAILEY CLEMENTS

Town career: 2019-2022

Appearances: 9

The 23-year-old defender has left Chesterfield after two seasons, having reunited with his former Blues manager Paul Cook in the summer of 2022. 

Clements helped the Derbyshire side win the National League title, then spent some time on loan at Eastleigh during the first half of the 2023/24 season. 

CHRIS CASEMENT

Town career: 2006-2009

Appearances: 14

The 36-year-old defender just spent last season at Suffolk non-league side Leiston, becoming a key figure in their side.

Casement returned to Suffolk in 2020 after a decade away and works at Playford Road in the academy as Town's loans manager. 

ANDRE DOZZELL

Town career: 2016-2021

Appearances: 93 - Goals: 3

Now without a club after leaving QPR. During his three years at Loftus Road, the Ipswich-born midfielder made close to 100 appearances. 

The 25-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City, where he was unable to prevent them suffering relegation to the third tier. 

Should have plenty of Championship interest.

Lee Evans

Town career: 2021-2024

Appearances: 61 - Goals: 6

The 29-year-old midfielder left Ipswich at the start of February after having his contract terminated by mutual consent. He subsequently joined Portsmouth on a short-term deal. 

Evans made four appearances for Pompey as they were crowned champions of League One and he will now look to find a new club after some injury set backs over the last two seasons.

JOSH EMMANUEL

Town career: 2015-2019

Appearances: 29

The 26-year-old defender leaves Carlisle United having only moved there in November last year. He was able to help them avoid the drop from League One. 

Emmanuel has been working his way back to fitness over the last few seasons, having recovered from a blot clot that initially stunted his speech and meant he was unable to move the left side of his body.

He's also played for Bolton, Hull and Grimsby since leaving the Blues.

JAY EMMANUEL-THOMAS

Town career: 2011-2013

Appearances: 65 - Goals: 9

The 33-year-old forward is without a club again, leaving Kidderminster Harriers after suffering relegation from the fifth tier.

'JET' joined Kiddy in February having being without a club since leaving Indian Super League side side Jamshedpur last June.  

TOMAS HOLY

Town career: 2019-2022

Appearances: 65 

The 32-year-old goalkeeper is heading away from Carlisle United after two campaigns in which he made over 50 appearances. 

Holy broke a clean sheet record for the Cumbrians in 2022/23, helping them win promotion to League One, but lost his place last season as they were relegated back to the fourth tier.

ALAN JUDGE

Town career: 2019-2021

Appearances: 91 - Goals: 10

The 35-year-old midfielder leaves National League side Woking, having only joined them in March. 

Judge has had a tough few years with injuries. He suffered a triple rupture in his left knee in December 2022 while at Colchester United and underwent surgery to repair his ACL in March last year.

The Irishman looks set to continue his career.

JOSH HARROP

Town career: 2021 (On loan from Preston)

Appearances: 14

The 28-year-old midfielder joined Cheltenham Town on a short-term contract in January but is now a free agent after their relegation from the third tier. 

Harrop played 13 games for the Robins.

JONAS KNUDSEN

Town career: 2015-2019

Appearances: 155 - Goals: 4

Danish left-back has been a free agent since he his contract at Swedish champions Malmo expired in January.

The 31-year-old won three league titles and a domestic cup there, suffering a cruciate ligament injury in the summer of 2021.

SCOTT LOACH

Town career: 2012-2014

Appearances: 33

The 36-year-old goalkeeper leaves Derby after two seasons, having been their third choice keeper during the 2023/24 campaign. 

Loach made just three cup appearances for Rams since he joined them from Chesterfield in the summer of 2022. 

JON NOLAN

Town career: 2018-2022

Appearances: 70 - Goals: 10

The 32-year-old midfielder is a free agent after a spell at Macclesfield, who he joined last summer after a spell at League Two side Tranmere Rovers. 

Nolan struggled for minutes with the Silkmen last season, with them having three different managers, including former Town defender Alex Bruce. 

RICHARD STEARMAN

Town career: 2013 (On loan from Wolves)

Appearances: 15

The 36-year-old defender has left Solihull Moors after one season. He joined them last summer after being released by Derby County.

Stearman made 27 appearances for the West Midlands side, who were beaten by Bromley on penalties in the National League play-off final.

TYREECE JOHN-JULES

Town career: 2022-2023 (On loan from Arsenal)

Appearances: 21 - Goals: 3

The 23-year-old attacker has left Arsenal having failed to make a senior appearance.  

John-Jules spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Derby County in League One, but he only managed 14 appearances in all competitions due to quad and hamstring problems as the Rams won automatic promotion back to the Championship.

DAVID STOCKDALE

Town career: 2011 (On loan from Fulham)

Appearances: 18

The 38-year-old goalkeeper is a free agent after leaving York City, where he combined playing duties with a role as the club’s head of recruitment.

Stockdale joined the Minstermen last summer following his release from Sheffield Wednesday and made just four league appearances. Has hinted he does not want to hang up his gloves just yet. 

KANE VINCENT-YOUNG

Town career: 2019-2023

Appearances: 64 - Goals: 2

The 28-year-old defender's contract at Wycombe Wanderer was not renewed, so he is looking for his next club after one season at Adams Park. 

Vincent-Young made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Chairboys but has been sidelined with injury since February. 

MARTYN WAGHORN

Town career: 2017-2018

Appearances: 46 - Goals: 16

The 34-year-old forward is now a free agent after his second spell at Derby ended. He rejoined the Rams last summer following his release from Coventry City. 

Waghorn scored seven goals in 27 games as Paul Warne's side finished second in the table with 92 points to end their two-year stay in League One.

JAKE LIVERMORE

Town career: 2010-2011 (On loan from Spurs)

Appearances: 12

The 34-year-old midfielder has left Watford after one season at Vicarage Road, having joined them on a free transfer from West Brom last summer. 

Livermore made 32 appearances and scored three goals for the Hornets as they finished 15th in the Championship. 

CONNOR WICKHAM

Town career: 2009-2011

Appearances: 72 - Goals: 15

The 31-year-old forward finished his latest short-term contract at Charlton Athletic after joining Nathan Jones’ side in March. He'd previously been without a club since leaving Cardiff City last summer. 

Wickham made just four appearances for Addicks, who finished 16th in the table, scoring once.

OTHERS

The other ex-Blues that are free agents this summer after leaving their respective clubs are James Alabi (Bath City), Fraser Alexander (Bishop's Stortford) and Tyrone Barnett (Leamington). 

Town confirmed their retained list following the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign, with Kayden Jackson, Dom Ball, Panutche Camara and Nick Hayes leaving the club.
