Departing Ipswich Town star Kayden Jackson says he'll remember the club's unlikely journey to the Premier League for the rest of his life.

Jackson is one of a quartet of players to leave Suffolk after the club confirmed its retained list this evening.

The 30-year-old arrived at the club in the summer of 2018, a £1.6m big-money Paul Hurst signing from Accrington Stanley expected to score the goals to fire Town towards the top of the second tier.

Of course, that didn't work out. Hurst only lasted 15 games and rock-bottom Town were relegated to League One with a whimper under new boss Paul Lambert.

He was one of only three players at the club to remain from that nadir - the others being Janoi Donacien and Luke Woolfenden.

In total he played 199 games, scoring 28 goals, in six seasons. He's been a key part of the squad, often off the bench, as Town surged to consecutive promotions.

In a statement shared via the club, Jackson said: "When I signed in 2018 I didn't know what was to come and, while it's certainly been a journey, I will always be extremely proud to have played for this brilliant club.

"The last two seasons in particular have been truly special and being able to play a part in getting this club promoted from League One to the Premier League is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

"To end my time with the club on such a high, with a brilliant group of teammates and a manager who has always supported me, is something I'll always be proud of.

"Ipswich Town will always have a special place in my heart and I wish everyone well for the future."
