Ipswich Town's Premier League rivals Chelsea have parted company with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The 52-year-old had successful spells at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur before joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, where he won the Ligue 1 title before leaving in 2022.

He joined Chelsea in May 2023, signing a two-year contract with the option for a further year. He guided them to the Carabao Cup final, where they were beaten by Liverpool, finishing the season with a sixth-place finish in the Premier League after a hot run of form guided them up from mid-table.

However, rumours started to spread that he could leave at the end of the campaign given how much they spent on transfer fees last summer and that they missed out on a place in the Champions League. That exit has now materialised, with Chelsea confirming his departure this evening.

The Telegraph, who broke the news of Pochettino's departure, have reported that Town boss Kieran McKenna will likely be considered for the vacancy, having been linked with a move earlier this week.

Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Burnley’s Vincent Kompanu, Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness, Girona’s Michel and Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca have also been listed as candidates, while McKenna has been linked with Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion, the latter of whom sacked Roberto De Zerbi over the weekend.
