Ed Sheeran has confirmed he will continue his front-shirt sponsorship with Ipswich Town after the club gained automatic promotion into the Premier League.
The Suffolk superstar, who has sponsored the men’s and women’s first-teams for the last three seasons, will once again see a logo of his don the Blues’ strips for the 2024/25 campaign.
Sheeran, who is a lifelong Town fan, was not at the game against Huddersfield on Saturday as he was set to perform at the Miami F1 race.
Speaking in an interview with Ted Kravitz ahead of the final day of the season, he confirmed the sponsorship.
He said: “I’ve signed on to sponsor them next season and if they get into the Prem it’s not going to pay for itself."
The Shape of You singer said it was a shame to miss the game in person but he did bump into some Ipswich Town fans while at the face who joined him later in the day to watch the match.
After the game the Suffolk-based singer-songwriter shared a video of him on social media watching on as the Blues beat Huddersfield 2-0.
In the video, the pop star can be seen celebrating the victory before calling up the players in their dressing room to ask if they would like to “go out” with him when he returns to the UK on Wednesday.
When asked by a player where he was, he joked: “I’m in Miami, I’ve got pay for the sponsorship somehow.”
Alongside the video, Sheeran wrote on Instagram: “Back to back promotions for Ipswich Town. Very emotional.
“It wasn’t that long ago I was sat at Portman Road watching them lose in League One with 11k people watching.
“This is huge for the club, huge for the town, and huge for football, showing anything can happen with belief and passion.
“Congrats to all the players, people at the club, and of course super Kieran.
“Sorry I can’t be there to celebrate but we don’t want another betting company as the sponsor next season eh. Uppa town. Emotional. See you in the Prem.”
