Relegated Championship outfit Rotherham United have parted company with manager Leam Richardson, appointing Steve Evans as his replacement.
Richardson took over from Matt Taylor in December 2023, having guided Wigan Athletic to safety in his previous job. He won just two games in charge of the Millers, who were subsequently relegated back to League One following a defeat at home to Plymouth Argyle.
Many outsiders expected Richardson to remain in the job given his record at third-tier level, but the club announced his departure this morning before confirming that Evans would come in as his replacement.

The 61-year-old, who previously managed Rotherham between 2012 and 2015, recently took Stevenage from League Two to League One, guiding them to a top-half finish. With two games to go, a top-six finish is almost impossible, presenting him with the opportunity to return to Yorkshire.
Evans could still have a part to play in the Championship relegation battle, with his first game coming at home to Gary Rowett's Birmingham City on Saturday. The Blues sit just one point above the drop zone with three games to play.

A trip to Bristol City and a final-day clash against Cardiff City will then follow, allowing the new manager time to assess the squad before trying to push for promotion back to the second division next season.
Ipswich have already played both games against Rotherham this season, drawing 2-2 at the New York Stadium in November before securing a dramatic 4-3 win at Portman Road in February.
