Town legend Natasha Thomas scored a landmark 150th goal for Town Women as Joe Sheehan's side dominated second place Hashtag United, winning 2-0 with Ruby Doe scoring late on to seal the points.
Town started the game as the more dominant team, with Hashtag having little of the ball.
Town should have been 1-0 up in the 25th minute, as a mistake at the back found Sophie Peskett through on goal with just the keeper to beat, but her touch round the keeper pushed the winger wide, and the ball was cleared.
Three minutes later, it was Lenna Gunning-Williams’ turn again to have a go at goal, as she went on a brilliant run through the centre of the pitch, but her effort went just wide of the post.
The Tottenham loanee had another great chance, as a high-bouncing ball caught the hashtag defence out, and she ran in behind, but her headed effort was saved from point-blank range.
Ipswich were looking fantastic, with wave after wave of attack. Kyra Robertson really pulled apart the Hashtag defence with through balls consistently through the half.
As the first half ended, you’d have a tough time finding a more dominant half of football without a goal for the Tractor Girls. Constant attacks, fantastic football, carving Hashtag apart, but no goals to show for it.
The second half started as more an even affair, but Town continued to be the only team posing any problems for the opposition defence.
Town finally got their well-deserved goal in the 69th minute, from who else, but legend Thomas, who received the ball from Peskett after a driving run, and hit the ball from the edge of the area past the keeper for her 150th goal.
The three points were sealed by Arsenal loanee Doe, who beat the keeper to the ball in the air to give herself an open goal to aim at, slotting into the far corner.
The full-time whistle blew to end a fantastic game by Ipswich Town. Dominant from start to finish.
This result means that Portsmouth are crowned league winners and will be playing Championship football next season.
