Former Ipswich Town midfielder Lee Evans has joined League One leaders Portsmouth on a deal until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old left the Blues at the start of February after he had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Evans was a key man during the early stages of Kieran McKenna's reign, but he suffered repeated knee injuries and eventually underwent surgery to rectify the issue in October last year.
He joins John Mousinho's side, who are top of the third tier, sitting seven points clear of second place Derby County.
The Pompey boss said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lee to the club and boost our midfield options for the remainder of the campaign.
“He has plenty of Championship pedigree and experience of winning promotion out of this league, including with Ipswich last season.
“Lee is a hugely experienced footballer and is comfortable with the ball at his feet, but also a physical presence in the middle of the park.”
In total, he made 61 appearances during his spell at Portman Road, having joined on a free transfer from Wigan in the summer of 2021. He helped the Blues finish second in League One last season, sealing promotion to the Championship after four years away.
He will link up with former Town loanee Will Norris, who is currently the first-choice goalkeeper at Fratton Park.
