Cameron Humphreys and Cieran Slicker featured for Ipswich Town under-21's, who were beaten 2-1 by reigning Professional Development League champions Millwall at the Den this afternoon.
John McGreal's side went into the game off the back of their 7-3 win against Swansea City last week, which saw them bounce back from their heavy 8-1 thrashing at the hands of Charlton Athletic.
There were three changes from that win, with Humphreys and Slicker coming in, while Jesse Nwabueze made his return after missing the last few games due to injury.
The Lions came close to breaking the deadlock when George Walker's shot from outside the area smacked the post, which was a big let-off for the visitors.
Town then went close down the other end when goalkeeper Connal Trueman made a big save to deny defender Jacob Mazionis from a few yards out.
The hosts ended up taking the lead just before half-time when Abdul Abdulmalik picked out Nana Boateng, allowing him to launch a cross from the left flank towards Sha'mar Lawson, who slid in to fire the ball into the back of the net.
Lawson would go on to score a second with just five minutes to go when he showed quick feet to dance past two defenders, slotting into the bottom corner.
The young Blues pulled a goal back in stoppage when substitute Rio Oudnie-Morgan netted, giving them hope that they could stage an incredible comeback.
They came close to scoring a late equaliser in the final moments when Mazionis climbed highest from a corner, but Trueman pulled off an impressive save on the line to help his side take the points.
Millwall go top of the Professional Development League Two South after their win, while Town remain fifth in the table.
They will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Cardiff City next Tuesday.
Town XI: Slicker, Babb, H Barbrook, Mazionis, O’Connor, Turner, Nwabueze, Humphreys, Buabo (c), Roberts, Ayinde.
