Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna was delighted to see his substitutes once again make a difference in this afternoon's 3-1 home win against Birmingham City.
Conor Chaplin's opener was cancelled out by Jordan James' finish on the stroke of half-time, but the Blues' overall dominance was rewarded when Jeremy Sarmiento and Omari Hutchinson, who had both stepped off the bench, scored in the 81st and 92nd minutes respectively.
It means that a quarter of Town's goals this season - 20 out of 80 - have been bagged by substitutes.
"That's a wonderful stat, one of my favourites I have to say," said McKenna. "We had a similar stat last year and I think that reflects so well on so many things.
"The primary thing I think it reflects well on is the culture in the group. It shows how everyone in that squad has full commitment to the team and is ready to play whenever required. Everyone is fully engaged in the game, ready to come on, fully understand their roles within the system, the state of the game and what's required."
Reflecting on the game as a whole, the Blues boss said: "I thought it was a really good performance. I enjoyed it. I was pleased with almost all aspects.
"We were really good off the ball, aggressive against a good footballing team, gave them very few opportunities to grow any sort of confidence in the game, we attacked well, had a threat all through the game, found control in the right moments and found control in an appropriately paced second half.
"Physically we looked good, we looked like we recovered well from the Tuesday night's game - we looked fit and fresh. And I thought our mentality was excellent, both with our approach to the game and our response to what could have been a big set-back just before half-time after what had been such a good first half performance. All-in-all, it's a really good performance, a deserved three points and a good day."
He continued: "It would have been easy to be very disappointed at half-time with the set-back of the goal that was so against the flow. But we didn't let that happen.
"The second half was a different game. Birmingham changed their shape (to 4-1-4-1), went with a pressing front line of one, marked Samy (Morsy) and Mass (Luongo) and pretty much man-marked Conor Chaplin as well. They tried to make it a lot more difficult for us to play through them.
"We had to show a lit of patience and work hard to create our opportunities. I thought we showed good control and I felt a real sense of belief that the players knew if we kept doing the right things we would get a couple of big opportunities and have the chance to go and win the game."
A fourth win on the spin sees Town remain level on points with second-place Leeds United. They have now opened up a five point gap over fourth-place Southampton after the latter's 2-1 home defeat to Millwall.
With 72 points on the board after 34 games, McKenna said: "We don't want to pause and stop too much because we want to get more points on the board and as many as we can, but someone has just said to me downstairs that we'd have finished fifth last season with this total.
"It's the highest points total in a very long time from a newly-promoted team and, as I said yesterday, we've done it with the large majority of players that we had last year and without spending a lot of money.
"Massive credit to everyone here - players, staff and supporters. We've created a massive atmosphere here and it's made us a formidable team."
