Ipswich Town winger Wes Burns believes the team's new-look attack is going to give Championship defences nightmares.

The Blues signed experienced 6ft 5in striker Kieffer Moore on loan from Premier League club Bournemouth on January transfer deadline day and he has already scored three goals in three games.

Young forward Ali Al-Hamadi, a £1m+ recruit from League Two club AFC Wimbledon, has also had an impact, capping three lively cameo appearances so far with the penalty goal that sealed Wednesday night's 4-0 win at Millwall. 

"Teams at the start of the year probably didn't show us the respect we deserved in terms of our patterns down the right side and even the left side," said Burns. "I think teams are starting to adjust their defensive shape to accommodate us now. 

"We have been working on different solutions to try and figure that out. Obviously adding the likes of Ali (Al-Hamadi) and 'Chief' (Moore) on the front line gives us a different option.

"A lot of teams have really honed in on the relationship I've got with Conor (Chaplin). Those cut-back passes aren't on as much because teams are marking it. But when you've got both Chappers and 'Chief' in the middle now it's difficult for teams to mark both.

"If two defenders get attracted towards 'Chief', because he's such a handful in the box, that leaves Chappers free. Or if you're blocking off Chappers then that leaves 'Chief' one-v-one - and we know there's only one winner there if you put the ball in the right area. So, yeah, he's added a great dimension to our game.

"Ali's also been a breath of fresh air. He's such a down to earth lad, he fits in perfectly with the hard-working ethos of the club and obviously we're all buzzing that he got his first goal."

Town go to Championship strugglers Swansea tomorrow with three Welsh internationals in their ranks - Burns, Moore and Nathan Broadhead. Two of them have links to the Swans' bitter rivals Cardiff, Moore having been a fans' favourite there and Burns having grown up a Bluebirds fan.

"I'm looking forward to it, to be fair!" said Burns. "I don't think I've played there against Swansea before, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

"I don't really want them to know I'm a Cardiff boy because that might go under the radar, but it would be nice for a Cardiff boy to go down there and get a win. My brother's a Cardiff season ticket holder, so he'll be buzzing if we can get the three points."

Having recently cut off his trademark long hair, the 29-year-old said: "I'd had long hair for four or five years now, so it's just a little bit of a change. I think everyone is getting used to it now. It's a lot easier in the mornings, I know that!"
