Ipswich Town are interested in signing Austrian international striker Maximilian Entrup, according to a report from Sky Sports Germany.

Entrup, 26, has spent the previous four seasons playing in the third-tier of Austrian football for FCM Traiskirchen and FC Marchfeld Donauauen.

His prolific form at that level - 39 goals in 52 games - earned him a move to Austrian top-flight outfit Hartberg last summer and he has continued to find the net regularly, bagging eight goals in 12 games this campaign.

Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, who has 266k followers on X, reports that Ipswich and Championship rivals Bristol City are ready to make a move for the 6ft 1in front man before the January transfer window shuts next Thursday.

He stats that a fee of around €1m (£855k) would be needed to land a player who is also said to be on German club Shalke's 'list for the summer'.

Entrup made his Austria international debut as a substitute in a 2-0 friendly home win against Germany last November.

Austria have qualified for this summer's European Championships in Germany after finishing second in Group F behind Belgium. They have been drawn alongside France, Holland and the winners of the play-offs including Wales, Finland, Poland and Estonia.
