Former Town youngster Tawanda Chirewa made his Premier League debut for Wolves last night. 

The 20-year-old came on as a late substitute as Gary O'Neil's side were held to a goalless draw by Brighton at Amex Stadium.

He made his senior debut off the bench against Brentford in the FA Cup earlier this month after starring for their under-21s and spending several games as an unused substitute.

Head coach O'Neill said: "Tawanda has shown enough to me in training, I’m pleased for him and know the lads were pleased for him to get his debut."

"It’s a big achievement getting a debut in a team and squad as talented as this, when you’re a young lad coming through the academy. I’m pleased for him."

Chirewa left the Blues to move to Molineux last summer, having turned down a new deal at Portman Road. Town received a compensation fee for the attacker. 

He made three appearances for Town in total, with his debut coming off the bench at Colchester United in the Papa Johns Trophy. He became the club’s second-youngest first-team player at 16 years and 31 days, just behind Connor Wickham.
