Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has confirmed that new signing Jeremy Sarmiento is ready to make his debut in Saturday's FA Cup third round tie at AFC Wimbledon.

The 21-year-old winger joined the Blues on loan from Premier League club Brighton yesterday having spent the first half of the season at Championship rivals West Brom.

Asked if the Ecuadorian international would be involved at Plough Lane on Saturday (12.30pm KO), McKenna replied: "We're hoping to have him involved. Of course you always have to be a little bit careful when players undergo a move. There's a lot of travelling, new pitches, new environment - the psychological impact can impact physically if you're not careful.

"We'll try and make good informed decisions and involve him on Saturday to the maximum possible.

"He had limited minutes at the start of the season (after a metatarsal injury), he had a (quad) injury after that, but in December he had a really good run of games. We feel he comes to us in a good position physically and with a better understanding of the league than what he would have had at the start of the season. That's a bonus.

"That's always one of the biggest things on your checklist in January - players that are game ready and can hopefully help your group in the short term."

George Hirst (hamstring), Leif Davis (calf), Lee Evans (knee) and Janoi Donacien (groin) remain sidelined for Town.

“We have a couple of little issues since Monday, nothing major,” said McKenna, when asked if he had any new injury issues since Monday's 0-0 draw at Stoke.

“There might be one or two where Saturday comes a little bit too quick or there’s an extra need for a rest period to prepare for the games we have coming up.”
