Ipswich Town goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky hailed his side’s 2-0 win at Middlesbrough as a ‘massive’ result.

The Blues struck in each half to earn a comfortable win at the Riverside, with Conor Chaplin and Omari Hutchinson both finding the back of the net.

“First of all, it’s a massive three points,” Hladky said after the game.

“It’s a tough ground to go and win at. As I said before the game, we prepared all week and went through the details, because there were a lot of them. At the end of the day, we got what we wanted.

“There were more details than usual, because they’re great in terms of playing through the pitch and overloading on the sides as well. We had to be careful.”

The result means that Town have picked up six wins from their 10 away games, giving them the second-best record on the road in the Championship.

They don’t carve teams apart in the same way as they do at Portman Road, but their defensive resilience has helped them pick up some important points in tough circumstances.

“I think our away form has been really good,” Hladky added. “We just want to carry on, because it’s always a different challenge to play away from home.

“It’s a different style and a different mindset, I would say.

“The away form has been great. Hopefully we can go again on Tuesday night and get another one.

“It [the style of play away from home] isn’t pragmatic. We want to brave, like at home, and play our style of football.

“Sometimes it’s not about us, it’s about the bravery of the home team. They’ve got the crowd behind them and they believe in themselves a bit more.

“It’s not always about us, because we always want to play the same way, but we went through all the details and got the reward in the end.”

The win maintains Ipswich’s seven-point cushion on Leeds United in third, while the gap to seventh place has been extended to 18 points.

They’ve shown that they aren’t in the Championship to make up the numbers, and Hladky believes that the rest of the division has known that for quite a while.

“They’ve known about Ipswich Town since the season started because our form has been great,” he argued.

“I don’t want to think about what they’re thinking. We want to have our tunnel and go through our way.

“That’s what we’re trying to do and what we’re working on every single day. I think it’s enjoyable for everyone – for the fans as well, for people who want to watch good football.”
