US club Phoenix Rising who are part-owned by Town’s Three Lions, claimed the USL Championship title after winning 3-2 on penalties against Charleston Battery last night.
Berke Bakay, Brett Johnson and Mark Detmer own a small percentage of Gamechanger 20 Ltd, who took ownership of Town in April 2021.
The trio have been involved with the Rising since the club's inception, with Detmer a co-founder and executive board member, while Bakay is chairman of the board. Johnson, on the other hand, was a founder and remains a shareholder.
Bakay was at Town's last two games, watching the draw at Rotherham and the win over Swansea City at Portman Road.
The Rising are based in Phoenix, Arizona. They were only founded in 2014, becoming USL champions for the first time after finishing sixth in the Western Conference.
They beat San Diego Loyal, Orange County and Sacramento Republic in the play-offs to reach the final to play Charleston Battery.
Battery took the lead in the first half, but the Rising claimed a last-gasp goal to take the match into extra-time before winning the match on penalties.
The USL Championship is the second tier in the United States below the MLS.
