Yet another of Ipswich Town's Championship rivals have made a managerial change after a series of poor results.
QPR have confirmed that Gareth Ainsworth has left Loftus Road following their 2-1 defeat at home to league leaders Leicester City.
Assistant manager Richard Dobson, who worked with him at Wycombe Wanderers, has also departed the club.
The R's currently occupy 23rd place with just eight points to their name, winning two, drawing two and losing 10 of their 14 league games. They've been beaten in each of their last six games, scoring three goals and conceding 14 in that time.
Huddersfield Town, who sit just outside the relegation zone, already have a six point cushion on them, while Rotherham United in 22nd are ahead by just a point with two games in hand.
In a club statement, CEO Lee Hoos said: "Making a call such as this is never easy, and it is even more difficult when you have such respect on both a personal and professional level for the individuals concerned - which we all do for Gareth and Richard.
"Many supporters have told me in recent months that they have never wanted someone to succeed more than Gareth, which is an indication of the fondness everyone associated with QPR has for him.
"Unfortunately, results this season haven't gone the way we all wanted and we feel a change is necessary.
"Gareth has been a pleasure to work with from the moment he arrived and I am truly sorry this has not worked out as we all had hoped.
"On behalf of the board, I wholeheartedly thank Gareth for his commitment, desire, passion and professionalism. We all have the utmost respect for him, and he will always be welcome here.
"We understand the importance of appointing a new head coach quickly and an announcement on this will follow in the coming days."
Town have already played QPR this season, winning 1-0 at Loftus Road thanks to a late goal from Conor Chaplin. The West Londoners are due to visit Portman Road on Friday, December 23rd, 2023.
