Ipswich Town star Marcus Harness says he's never been part of a team which prepares with the same intensity as the high-flying Blues.

Town sit second in the early Championship table, having won nine of their first 11 games back in the second tier.

Versatile forward Harness has been a key part of the squad, largely coming off the bench, but bagged a goal when he started in the impressive 3-0 win over Hull City.

And the 27-year-old says it's a pleasure to be part of the Town success story.

“I’ve been happy with where I’m at," he explained.

"I’ve never been involved in a group that trains with such intensity, even people who aren’t playing – there’s a lot of us who aren’t playing much and there’s no bad eggs, everyone’s pushing in the same direction.

“It’s a pleasure to be a part of.”

Having arrived at Town from Portsmouth in the summer of 2022, Harness was a regular starter on the left flank, and kicked off his Blues career with five goals in his first eight games.

But a combination of injury and the arrival of Nathan Broadhead in January have seen him now largely confined to a role as one of Town's key subs.

He revealed the club have been looking at him potentially playing in different positions, but stressed that he's content to bide his time and keep pushing the starters.

“I started well and then obviously had the knee injury," he said, reflecting on his time at Town to date.

"I came back really quickly and felt like I was ready, but probably never really got back to my best.

“Obviously Broady came in and he’s been incredible – so even if I was at my best he’s been hard to push out of the team really.

“I’m happy to be here and I’m ready when I’m called upon and there’s a few different positions we’ve looked at.

“I’ve played on the right side, the 10, that’s a bit different and I’ve been doing that a bit more.

“I’m feeling good, training well and I’ve just got to wait for my opportunity.

"Hopefully when it comes I can take it and help the team to carry on the amazing form that we’re in.”
