Ipswich Town extended their unbeaten run with a 1-0 win against QPR at Loftus Road. Alex Jones provides his player ratings for the Blues...

Vaclav Hladky

His hardest game so far. Made himself big to deny Sinclair Armstrong, who was a threat throughout the game, and was quick to get down low when QPR flooded bodies into the box and found space to take aim. His distribution was excellent, and his overall performance showed that he can comfortably fill in for Christian Walton in the Championship. Just about edges the Man of the Match award for me. 8 (MotM)

Janoi Donacien

Looked solid in his brief time on the pitch, aside from a mix-up with Luke Woolfenden that almost let to QPR taking the lead, but his injury will be a concern for Ipswich. He’s been excellent so far this season, and showed his quality again at Loftus Road. 6

Luke Woolfenden

A slightly lethargic, if not shaky start, but he quickly found his feet. Dug deep under pressure and looked comfortable when QPR were pushing bodies forward. He looked a lot more comfortable once Armstrong was withdrawn, especially on the ball. He’s fantastic when it comes to playing out from the back. 7

Cameron Burgess

Generally solid, once again. Partners Woolfenden so well and offers a physical presence in an otherwise technical back line. Withstood the pressure really well and played a vital part in securing the clean sheet. 7

Leif Davis

Excellent yet again. Found it a little harder in the first half, but as QPR tired, he was given a lot more space to push forward and cause chaos. His ball from the left created the goal and, with better finishing from his teammates, he would’ve had a few assists. 8

Sam Morsy

Aside from one terrible corner, he was probably Town’s best outfield player. The metronome in midfield, he kept the whole team ticking and flew in with strong challenges to win back possession in typical Morsy fashion. 8

Massimo Luongo

No doubt he could’ve put in a similar performance to Morsy, but the early yellow card made it impossible for him to impose himself on the game. Still a composed figure in midfield, but had much less of an impact because of that booking. Could’ve sealed the win in stoppage time. 7

Wes Burns

Not his usual self. Struggled on the narrow pitch at Loftus Road and wasn’t able to exploit the usual space he’s so good at finding. When he did get into those areas, his deliveries were accurate, but nobody was able to capitalise in the centre. Huffed and puffed, but he found it hard. 6

Conor Chaplin

First half looked like more of the same - not much space for him to work with and limited support. Improved massively after the break and was Town’s leading break. Composed finish for the goal. Hopefully the first of many. 8

Nathan Broadhead

Like Burns, this just wasn’t the game for him. Marked within an inch of his life in the first half and wasn’t really involved when Town turned the screw later on in the game. Just couldn’t find any real space and only had a limited amount time on the ball. 6

George Hirst

Another difficult game with limited space. He was fed off scraps, but worked hard to create something. Was unfortunate not to be given a penalty shortly before Chaplin’s opener. Still adapting to the Championship, but he clearly has the attributes to thrive. 6

Sub: Harry Clarke (37’)

Brought on for Donacien late in the first half, which definitely wasn’t part of the plan. He looked rusty, which was to be expected, and struggled up against the likes of Ilias Chair and Armstrong. Grew into the game and will only get better over time. 5
