Striker Joe Pigott has left Ipswich Town by mutual consent, the club have confirmed.

The 29-year-old joined Town in the 'Demolition Man' summer of Paul Cook in 2021, one of 19 new signings who arrived in Suffolk.

But he never really established himself as a starter, finishing that season with three goals in 29 games.

He spent last season on loan at Portsmouth, where he scored seven goals in 44 games.

Pigott, who departs with one year remaining on his deal, has been linked with a move to League One newcomers Leyton Orient.

Town midfielder Idris El Mizouni is on loan there again this coming season.

Pigott's departure leaves Town's current squad at 26 senior players - they must name a 25-man squad for the coming season.

Loanee Omari Hutchinson, who signed from Chelsea last night, is 19 - but counts towards the 25-man squad as a loan player.
